Surprise! Our family is growing from 3 to 4!
I’m pregnant, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic to announce that we are expecting Baby #2! Yes, we’ve been keeping a secret and doing pretty good at it, too, because this week I am 32 weeks along.
We have been praying and hoping for another for some time now, but with my miscarriage last year after my brother passed away, needless to say, things were far from easy in many aspects.
To my surprise, I kind of found out this past May on Mother’s Day 2019. What a day to have a life-changing moment, right? My husband and I had taken my mother (and father) to this local May Day Festival to celebrate Mother’s Day and enjoy being outside. We ate festival food and walked around in the heat, and enjoyed the Hawaiian/Polynesian entertainment and spring festival vibe.
After a fun Mother’s Day afternoon, Migs and I parted ways with my parents and we arrived home needing to cool down from the heat. We were drinking water and resting. Suddenly, I had this nauseating feeling and the first thing I thought was that it was the food from the festival. The last thing I had eaten was a malasada, which is similar to a donut (fried, sugary, and super yummy!). A malasada combined with possible dehydration…that had to be it! But after what must have been 10-15 minutes, I had an inkling it wasn’t that. I ran upstairs and grabbed a pregnancy test. But when it was time to look at the test, we couldn’t tell if there was a blue line or not. It was the faintest blue line and we suspected our eyes were playing tricks on us. We thought, “Well, maybe!” But we didn’t want to get our hopes up and so we didn’t really get too excited. Although, I knew something was different.
The next night, I was still very eager to know and I decided to take another pregnancy test to just confirm if it was really a positive or negative because I knew something was really going on with my body. I’ve always trusted my instincts and I just know my body.
Sure enough, it hadn’t even been 24 hours later, the line was DARK blue. Two beautiful lines = CONFIRMED! I was pregnant! It still amazes me that a woman’s hCG hormone level can change so drastically from one day to the next! Migs was giving Nico a bath, and I had left the test at the foot of the bed for him to see when he brought Nico in the room. It was such a happy, memorable moment!
I mentioned at the beginning of this post that I’m 32 weeks (3rd trimester!). Now that time has passed, stay tuned for my 1st and 2nd-trimester updates.
We are very happy to be growing our family!
